SHELLEY SPECTOR’S ‘THE NOWADAYS’
Shelley Spector is a project-based sculptor and 2018 RAIR resident, making work that is generative through reuse, redistribution and intervention. She uses post-consumer materials, natural resources, and salvaged objects. Her project, The Nowadays, began in 2020 when she purchased and deconstructed a run-down cabin and property in the hills of Pennsylvania. She built this site to be a pro-eco work environment, using the techniques and goals that have long been part of her studio practice. Through an ongoing relationship, RAIR provides Spector with salvaged materials to help her in the realize new possibilities for the waste stream.
