What is Trash Bash 2023?

The 10th Anniversary celebration of the Trash Bash event will support artists and our amazing programs for the following year. This year, Trash Bash will be held in person and the Silent Auction will include the option to bid on auction items both in person and online for those that wish to support RAIR from afar:

Where is it and how do I get there?

Trash Bash takes place at Atelier Art Gallery, 1301 North 31st Street, Suite 2, Philadelphia, PA. There is limited parking available on site, as well as, street parking. By transit, Atelier is three blocks from the Girard/31st stop on the 15 trolley, and close to the 7, 32, 48, and 49 buses. Bicycles can be locked off-street in the Atelier parking lot.

When is Trash Bash 2023?

  1. In Person party is Wednesday, 11/8 at 5:30pm EST for VIPs and 7pm EST for General Admission ticket holders.

  2. The Silent Auction opens both in person and online on Wednesday, 11/8/21 at 5:30pm EST for VIPs and 7pm EST for General Admission. All bids will be made through our online auction for both virtual and in person participants.

What kind of access does my ticket get me?

There are 2 ticket levels - VIP and General Admission grant access to both the in person party and virtual access to the auction for those that want to support RAIR from a distance.

If you have a VIP ticket, you will be welcomed to the in person party at 5:30 pm and can begin bidding before it opens to General Admission ticket holders. This special early bird access to our Silent Auction allows you to bid on items or choose to buy them on the spot at a premium before we open the auction to a much wider audience. When the auction goes public, items will be available for bidding only and there will no longer be a BUY-IT-NOW option. VIPs will receive an email with a link to register for the online auction starting at 5:30 pm EST, both in person and virtual.

General Admission ticket holders will be welcomed to the in person party at 7 pm EST and start bidding through the online auction at 7 pm EST. You will receive an email with a link to register for the online auction starting at 7 pm EST, both in person and virtual.

All ticket holders will be able to place bids until the auction closes automatically at 9 pm EST.

How do I get a ticket?

To join in on the fun, you can get a Ticket by:

  • Buying a VIP ticket to the in person event $100 in advance, $120 at the door.

  • Buying a General Admission ticket to the in person event $80 in advance, $100 at the door.

How do I become a sponsor?

To become a sponsor go to our Givesmart Campaign site OR pay via check or Zelle to help RAIR avoid transaction fees. Contact sam@rairphilly.org with sponsorship questions.

How do I send via Zelle? 

Most banks use Zelle which is a bank to bank transfer service. There are no additional fees, for either party. Most banks offer this on their bank's app only, not on their website. Find Zelle on your bank's app. If you are not already signed up, it may ask you a couple simple questions like what email do you want to attach to your account. After you are finished with the questions, click on "Send", type in theresa@rairphilly.org and enter the amount you would like to send. Your bank may ask you to enter your PIN. This is the same PIN you would use to take money out of an ATM. After you submit payment, you will receive an email confirmation.

What’s in the Silent Auction?

The Silent Auction has three general categories:

  • Artwork - donated from amazing artists. Artwork Preview

  • Trash Boutique - made by RAIR from materials from the waste stream. Trash Boutique Preview

  • Packages - curated collection of unique items Packages Preview


    All money raised will support RAIR’s programming in 2024!!


How do I bid on an item in the Auction?

We are using the GiveSmart platform for the auction. We will email you a link to our campaign to register and place your bids for both in person and virtual bidding. Registering for the auction with your smart phone and using it to bid and buy is the easiest way to participate. If you do not have a smart phone, we can assist you at the in person event.

For each item, you’ll see the fair market value and the starting bid. If you have a VIP ticket, you will also see an option to ‘buy now’ with the listed price until 7pm EST. 

You can browse the items on GiveSmart without registering, but if you’d like to bid on or buy an item, you will be asked to register. By registering (name, email, phone number are required), this will ensure you will be notified if you win an item and will allow you to pay for an item through the Givesmart site.

You can bid via the website or via text message from your phone. When you enter your phone number at registration, you will receive a text message whenever you have been outbid on an item and also when you’ve won. 

How to Bid

1. Once you have completed a registration on the campaign, you will receive the welcome text message, linking you to the items to browse, bid or buy.

2. Click on the Blue link in the Welcome text to be directed to the Items page.

3. View Items by category or search by Item number or name.

4. Click the item of interest to view the description as well as the current bid or buy-it-now price.

5. The system will auto-populate the bid amount based on the set increment for the item. Choose to bid at the set amount or higher.

6. Click Bid.

I won something in the auction, how do I pay?

If you have a VIP ticket and have chosen to ‘buy it now’ you can access your cart by selecting the ‘Pay’ option when on the  ‘All items’ Givesmart page. You can email us at kristen@rairphilly.org with any questions about how to do this.

When you place a winning bid, you should receive an email with an option to pay online. If you would rather pay by check, that’s fine too! Checks can be made payable to RAIR. Email us virtually or come see us at the sale table the night of with any questions.

I won! How do I get my auction item?

Congrats on winning and thanks for supporting us! We encourage all of those who are bidding in person at the Trash Bash to take your item at the end of the night. At 9 pm, winners will be asked to go to the sales table and show receipt for your paid items. You’ll then receive a slip that you will show to the Auction crew who will give you your winnings to take home! Alternatively, we’ll send you an email to coordinate pick-up or mailing of your item. We’ll be in the gallery for post event pick ups Thursday 11/9, 12-7:30 pm and Friday 11/10, 4-7:30 pm. If you are not local, we can package your item for shipment. Shipping costs will be charged to the winner separately. We’ll be using UPS Ground to ship your items.
