“The landfill pile is like a graveyard of time and the physical capacity of labor....Things that we bought or felt we needed to buy will live beyond us in the earth.”
While working at RAIR, Anoushé collected materials from the waste stream to create a series of kinetic sculptures that were used for a video that featured a laughing living room set. These living room sculptures were operated through the use of motors and hand puppeteering. The 3 scenes were filmed at night on the tipping floor of that recycling center and were re- recreations of the 1987 Evil Dead 2 movie. All the materials used to make these sculptures were comprised 100% of discarded goods coming through the recycling facility during her residency.
