““ With my time at RAIR, I had the unusual satisfaction of finishing a complex work, and that has stayed with me as a reminder of what becomes possible when collective labor is well supported.

During Emmanuela Soria Ruiz’s time at RAIR, she created a video using salvaged materials to construct shifting theatrical-inspired sets (also called a scenographic transformation), which represent the changes in weather in the dumpster yard. Her sets include rippling construction plastic strip curtains and a stage apparatus representing the afterlife of materials and anxiety about the environment. Her snow machine, filled with wood chips, simulated snowfall as it rotated.
