““ No matter how often a space was cleaned or rearranged, residue persisted. Experiencing this while performing and installing work during open hours sharpened my awareness of how invisible materials and invisible labor coexist.

During Yolanda He Yang’s time at RAIR, she spent her time collecting the dust here in Revolution Recovery. She made performances and stencils with the collected dust as both a medium and message of the failed potential of progress which is left behind. She assembled a video montage with sound, alongside a sculptural installation that shows landfills and recycling yards being living sites of erasure, ruin, and neglect.
